Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
Easter Hat Parade
Our annual Easter Hat Parade is a beloved tradition that celebrates community spirit and creativity. Students showcase their imagination by designing and creating their own unique hats. This joyful event is one of the highlights of our school year, bringing everyone together in celebration.
ANZAC/Remembrance Day
At Iona Public School, ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day hold special significance as meaningful occasions for our school community to come together in tribute to the bravery, sacrifice, and dedication of our armed forces. Through engaging ceremonies, thoughtful reflection, and educational activities, students develop a deep understanding of the importance of these days and cultivate a strong sense of appreciation for the service and sacrifices made.
Book Week
Book Week is a cherished celebration of reading and storytelling at our school. Throughout the week, students participate in a variety of literacy and creative activities that inspire a love of reading. The highlight of the week is the much-anticipated Book Parade, where our entire school community gathers to enjoy seeing students dressed as their favourite book characters.
Mother's, Father's and Grandparents Day
Our school warmly celebrates Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Grandparent’s Day with special breakfast or morning tea events that bring families and the school community together. These occasions provide a meaningful opportunity for students, staff, and family members to connect, share moments of appreciation, and recognise the important role our extended community plays in supporting and enriching our school.
Small Schools' Swimming and Athletics Carnivals
Our school is proud to join with other small schools each year for the annual swimming and athletics carnivals. These events offer students valuable opportunities to connect with their peers in a spirit of sportsmanship and friendly competition, fostering teamwork and a love of physical activity.
"What I love about Iona Public School is that all my friends are really respectful and nice. My teachers are kind, and I always have a friend to play with. What I value most is having good friendships” — Lara - Year 5
